Hey peeps! We’re spending this week at FinCon partying with our favourite bloggers and getting into all sorts of shenanigans.

Lots of cool stuff happening, including hanging out with J.Money, J.D.Roth, the MadFientist, Katie from Popup Business School, Mrs.Frugalwoods, Brad and Jonathan from ChooseFI, Carl from 1500 daysMr and Mrs. ONL, Gwen from Fiery Millennials, Grant from Millennial Money, and a whole lot more!

The weird thing about FinCon is that you end up fan-girling over your favourite bloggers, while at the same time, somehow also being fan-girled over. I was waiting to chat with Pat Flynn from The Smart Passive Income when someone behind me said: “Hey! I wanted to introduce myself and tell you how much I love the Millennial Revolution!” I was like ‘say WHAT?!” Can a groupie also have groupies?

Luckily, I managed to corner J.Money and J.D Roth before they got mobbed by fans:

J.Money is just as cool in person as his rad hairdo and his blog!

I pounced on J.D Roth while he was getting his caricature drawn. Good thing he remembered who I was and didn’t think I was some crazy stalker (Nah, just kidding. He probably thought I was some crazy stalker)

Mrs. Frugalwoods is just as lovely in person as she is on her blog.

HEYYY! Its Carl from 1500 days! And he brought along the dinosaurs!

Mr and Mrs.Wow!

Partying it up with Grant from Millennial Money!

We’re also going to a talk by Paula Pant and Chris Guillebeau. So rather than than writing a post about it, I thought it would be fun do to one of those twitter live-streaming things that are all the rage these days. Follow along on twitter: @FIRECracker_Rev to tune in to all the madness!

Also, TD Ameritrade has a booth here…that should be pretty awkward…

For those of you who couldn’t make it, the sessions are recorded, uploaded after the FinCon is over, and you can access them for free here: https://www.youtube.com/c/finconexpo

  1. I’m curious after all you mentioned all those names. What’s the ratio of bloggers in attendance at these events compared to non-bloggers? Is it more of a networking thing, or do you think that you learn new skills and techniques you can apply to your own saving and investing?

    1. Good point. It’s a networking of people with exact same ideas and actions…nothing new to learn.
People out there are the ones who need to be reached and not the bloggers of FIRE community…not very productive and beneficial to society I’d say!

    2. FinCon isn’t a conference to learn how to invest and save. It’s a conference for personal finance bloggers and entrepreneurs to network, learn how to start podcasts, how to write a blog. etc. Your best bet for learning investing and saving are the Chautauquas.

  2. OMG all of my favorite PF bloggers and people are in the same place at the same time. I can’t get any better than this!

Thank you so much for the update. I can’t go this year, but I’ve been keeping an eye out for updates and reports hehe.

    1. I’ve never seen so many bloggers in the same place either. It’s pretty amazing.

Hope you get to go next year! On the plus side all the sessions are recorded, so you can always watch them afterwards!

    1. Please do! I met SO many cool people in such a sort of amount of time and got the low down on all sorts of SEO tricks, creating an online course, etc.

    1. Couldn’t believe how hard us money nerds can actually party! Come join us next year. Booze, booze and more booze all around!

  3. It was great to meet you two. I’ll say what I have to say to 100-some other people I exchanged pleasantries with so far. I wish we had a lot more time to enjoy a deeper conversation. One of these days.

    Cheers!
