While I was reading it, I had the reaction. Call me the police if you want, but it’s irritating to watch these FIRE “pastors” collecting income from every direction.
There’s a big difference between being fully dependent on your portfolio and quietly owning multiple cash cows in different pastures. Even if you claim you don’t need them, the mere existence of those income streams buys a level of freedom and psychological safety most people grinding toward FIRE will never experience.
Let’s not pretend those situations are the same.
Clearly I need to take lessons on how to do retirement right 🙂 Feel free to send me a list of activities that are permitted, and I’ll be sure to not set it on fire.
If you’re irritated, feel free to not read our blog and not use our free workshop anymore. We’ve split off our portfolio into A and B for years to be transparent about earned income after retirement to keep the experiment pure. But I’m very happy if you choose not to read my blog anymore, since I no longer have to pay for you taking up extra resources on my web server or mailing list. *waves* bye bye retirement police!

Hi, there is a chart and a formula in the back of the ‘Quit like a Millionaire’ book for the number of years to achieve FI based on varying savings rates and rate of returns.
Does anyone have that formula and\or chart and are able to post it here please?
It looks something like this I think:
Years=ln(1+N*(1-s)/s)/ln(1+r)
N = 25
r = rate of return
s = savings rate
